Ultimate Frisbee Class

Have you always wanted to learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee? Here’s your chance! This free class will run March 9 through 13 from noon to 1 p.m.

T-Ball Volunteers Needed

Interested in volunteering with t-ball this spring? JC Little League Super Stars is looking for coaches and other volunteers for their 3 and 4 year old teams! Games will be every Tuesday evening for 8 weeks (April 21 through June 9) at Sertoma Park (501 Filley Street). Games will be 30 minutes in length and scheduled at 6, 6:40, or 7:20 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get involved in local youth sports, coaching and mentoring some of our youngest athletes as they learn a new sport!

Spring Sports Registration Opportunities

Junction City Spring SportsIt may not feel like warmer weather will ever come our way this week, but spring sports are just around the corner! There are a few upcoming opportunities for sports like t-ball, soccer, and baseball!

T-Ball

JC Little League Superstars will hold three registration events. Download the form (PDF) and sign up at a session:

    5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

    Knights of Columbus

Soccer

The Junction City YMCA offers soccer for grades 1 through 6, as well as an instructional league for ages 3 to 6. Forms can be returned to the YMCA (1703 McFarland Road). Download the registration form and sign your player up by March 16!

Baseball

Later this spring, the Junction City Junior Baseball Association will start registration for their recreational league for ages 5 and up. Stay tuned for more details on signing up for baseball as we get closer to April!

YMCA Soccer Season

Do you have the next Lionel Messi or Alex Morgan at home? Cultivate those soccer skills by registering your kiddo for the Junction City YMCA’s soccer program! The YMCA offers soccer for grades 1 through 6, as well as an instructional league for ages 3 to 6.

The deadline to register is March 16. Forms and fees ($35, including t-shirt) can be returned to the YMCA (1703 McFarland Road). Download the registration form and sign your player up today!

T-Ball Registration

It’s almost that time of year – t-ball season! JC Little League Super Stars offers t-ball for ages 3 to 5. Registration will be $30, and 30-minute games will run Tuesdays from April 21 through June 9 at Sertoma Park (501 Filley Street). This league offers a great opportunity to introduce your little one to a team sport!

Safe Sitter Course

Safe Sitter course flyerDo you have a student in grades 6 through 8 who is interested in babysitting? Or maybe you want your tween to learn a few skills for staying home alone or with younger siblings? An upcoming Safe Sitter course at the 12th Street Community Center may be just what you need to feel confident leaving your tween with little ones! Participants will learn important safety skills through fun roleplay and games, including practicing CPR on manikins!

The course will be held on March 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the 12th Street Community Center. Participants should bring a sack lunch both days. Register online by March 5 for $40! To stay informed about other classes at 12th Street, follow the center on Facebook!

PlayJC Early Spring Sports Newsletter

Did you see a newsletter from PlayJC in your elementary student’s backpack? In our mission to keep families informed of all the youth and family activities available in Junction City, we’ve worked with USD 475 to set up distribution of a regular newsletter filled with upcoming registration and ongoing programs.

Basketball Skills & Drills

It’s important to develop those FUNdamentals! Youth basketball enthusiasts from elementary through high school will be able to practice their skills and drills every Monday in February at 12th Street Community Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.!

Volunteer with PlayJC & Momentum Volleyball

Looking for an opportunity to get involved with local youth sports? Along with Live Well Geary County and Breaking Bread of JC, PlayJC will run concession stands for Momentum Volleyball’s Play It Forward Tournament on February 8 and 9 in Junction City.

Please help Play JC raise money for local youth sports by volunteering to work at a concession stand. Profits will be split between the three organizations based on the number of volunteer hours worked by each group.
